Co-Host Kimmy Seltzer (https://mountaintoppodcast.com/seltzer) My returning guest is a style consultant and a dating strategist, so who better to join me for this long-overdue show about how to make a brilliant first impression? Well, it might surprise you, but Kimmy Seltzer hasn't always been the queen of style. In fact, like many of us, she went through a devastating breakup that sent her into the doldrums. It was only after what I jokingly renamed her 'moment of redress' that she realized how far just a little bit of self love could go. Nowadays, of course, she's all about empowering others to make a big splash when meeting others. Kimmy explains how she went from thinking 'inside out' as a therapist to giving due credit to working from the 'outside in' as well. Is it really so bad to compare a good first impression to product marketing? What is 'enclothed cognition'...and is it anything like 'costumed confidence'? What's the one thing you can do that's not only fall-out-of-bed easy, but actually FUN to make your first impression better? How do you maximize your first impression online when you have mere milliseconds to make it happen? It used to be women would go shopping in curlers...but now it's actually worse! And hey, why is it that we STILL notice the frumpy ones anyway? Is the joke on us? As a special bonus, listen in as Kimmy somewhat inadvertently reveals what's really going on in many women's heads when most of us as guys think women are repulsed by us (hint: Oh no, it's most certainly NOT your fault. In fact, it's not even YOU). The website has been updated AGAIN, featuring links to the new programs, new videos on YouTube and more... https://mountaintoppodcast.com

Co-Host Peter McGraw (https://mountaintoppodcast.com/solo) Two episodes ago, we talked about how society is apparently keeping us single. This time, Dr. Peter McGraw returns to ask what's necessarily wrong with that? Even though more than fifty percent of American adults are single, there's still somehow a stigma associated with it. However, Peter isn't only among that majority of single adults, he's happily unhitched. And if you think about it, if the stereotype about us as men is how we go out of our way to avoid marriage, where's the bad rap coming from? Well, prepare for some shocking news from Peter, because despite his own personal optimism, most singles even nowadays really do wish they were in a relationship. Or do they only think they wish they were in a relationship? How can we know the difference as pertaining to our own life? And if it's true we happen to be in the relative minority who actually want to stay single, how do we go about living that dream the way Peter does? So, is marriage really a social relic of the past that we can't seem to shake off as a culture? Or is it more like marriage came along relatively recently in human history as part of the evolutionary cycle of culture? As for single people themselves, they're not all alike. Peter has identified at least four different kinds of singles, and he explains all. Along with that, isn't there a big difference between lonely and bitter vs. happily free and playing the field for a season? And if you ARE going to be single--by choice or otherwise--what are some key, and perhaps unexpected ideas and strategies you're going to have to keep in mind? Most of all, how do you live a remarkable life, whether married or single? Co-Host Emily McKay (https://www.deservewhatyouwant.com) You hear the term 'power couple' quite a bit, but what exactly does it mean? We know one when we see one, for sure. But is it necessarily a good thing? Would we want to team up with our WAGs to BE one? If so, how do we BECOME one? Well, let's first get this out in the open: I'm not sure whether my wife Emily and I are indeed a 'power couple' or not, especialy after this conversation...as entertaining and informative as it was. So then, how about it? What kind of 'power' are we talking about here, anyway? What does it take for a couple to add up to more than the sum of their individual parts? What are the actual, real-world traits of a 'power couple'? Can a couple be a 'power couple' simply by acting like one, or does that distinction have to be earned...if not bestowed upon them by others? What are the different ways can a couple indeed be powerful? Doesn't the expectation to be a 'power couple' put a lot of pressure on spouses, especially if one wants it more than the other? Is this something we should aspire to--in one way or another--or does it all only relegate the relationship to feeling more like 'work' again? Is it true in this case that the bigger they are, the harder they fall? And hey, is there such thing as 'power parents'? That sounds flat-out cringeworthy. One thing's for sure about this episode, Emily and I didn't leave anything on the table, all the while taking ourselves far less seriously than any 'power couple' typically should. Guess what? I've finally come through on updating the YouTube channel. Brand new, fluff-free videos every Tuesday here: https://mountaintoppodcast.com/youtube

Co-Host Dr. Scott Yenor (https://mountaintoppodcast.com/revolution) My returning guest is the ever-controversial professor at Boise State University and now Senior Director of State Coalitions for Claremont Institute. Exactly 100 shows ago, he and I threw down what has become one of the most cited episodes in the catalog...on the pressures facing men, the family and even sexual procreation in this culture. This long-anticipated follow-up covers the social factors that may be keeping you single instead of dating and relating to women. As you well know, we're not about whining and victimhood around here. So the tone of this episode is more about empowering you to navigate the current societal roadblocks than merely complaining. Right off the bat, Scott proclaims that our civilization is straight-up broken, and the reasons for that are complicated. But he's forthright in saying the very sexual dance between men and women appears to be breaking down, and offers clear reasons why. How has emphasizing career and financial production for women, among other factors, contributed to the need for what Scott calls 'The Sexual Counter-Revolution'? Why is this so offensive to even talk about nowadays? And importantly, how do we as men factor into all of this? (For what it's worth, I gasped when I heard Scott's answer to that question.) And perhaps most amazingly of all, listen to the ironic reason why Scott thinks it may be easier nowadays for you to find the right woman for you than ever.
